Professor Andrew Sherry is Chair of Materials and Structures at the Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials at the University of Manchester and was formerly the Chief Scientist at the National Nuclear Laboratory. He has also launched the 'Becoming Me' programme and runs the 'Are We Nearly There Yet' podcast (see @awnty), both of which aim to help people embrace who they are, flourish at what they do and thrive in making a difference. Andrew was also the Head Elder at Ivy Church when Anthony Delaney started at the Church and has been a good friend for many years.
This conversation covers many topics and centres around Andrew's work helping people through the new Becoming Me programme, what he's learnt from the process and how those lessons can be applied to the church. Andrew has had much success in academia and has significant influence but has always remained committed to the church and seeing it flourish and we're glad to share this conversation with you.
This conversation also touches on nuclear reactors and cigar-box guitars.

How do we plant churches that are worth reproducing? Josh in this conversation describes the vehicles that we have used, which have too often been unsuited for the journeys we have wanted to go on. Instead, he encourages us to avoid rebuilding systems out of comfort if they weren't meeting the aims of a true kingdom cultured church and reproducing sold-out disciples?
Many people in churches are asking 'is there more to the Christian life than this?' and the answer is yes! Jesus sets a high standard for discipleship, higher than we often do - and he calls it a good deal!
Hear from Josh and Anthony in this episode a variety of challenging calls and encouraging stories. If you're listening it's because you're passionate about Jesus, the church and reaching new people in new ways, this conversation will remind you of the high call for discipleship and start a series of conversations that will begin to investigate what it looks like to make disciples that make disciples and plant churches with healthy kingdom cultures that are worth reproducing.

Here Anthony speaks with Emma Stark from Glasgow Prophetic Centre. Emma has a prophetic gift to the nations and strong insight that is incredibly valuable for anyone involved in Church.
Anthony starts by mentioning how friendship and connection with Emma and GPC has been such a help to his leadership in the last couple of years before going into conversation on what we mean by the prophetic ministry, some of Emma's background before moving into a wide-ranging conversation touching on the role of APEST in the Church, taking risks and an overall call to leaders to become amateurs in the new rather than experts in the old.
Emma is a powerful communicator and will challenge you but we know that as you listen that you'll also come away inspired and encouraged to chase the mission and the call that God has for you.

Here Anthony speaks with Dr. James Emery White, Senior Pastor and Founder of Mecklenburgh Community Church in Charlotte, North Carolina; president of Serious Time, Inc., which is host to the ChurchandCulture.org website. He is also ranked adjunct professor of theology and culture at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and is the author of more than twenty books that have been translated into ten languages. Some of his books include;
This conversation has so much practical wisdom, diving into the history of the church and the christian faith and where we find ourselves at this point, as well as a lot of discussion and ideas around the importance of this moment in terms of leaning into the digital revolution as churches. Dr. White also reminds us that God has entrusted us with this time, with a call not to waste this crisis but to allow it to shake us, change us and transform our churches and ministries the way He wants. We know you'll be encouraged and inspired after listening to this conversation with Dr. James Emery White.

Josh - "Jesus wasn't saying build your life on me and not on other things. His only example that He used was that the wise man was him who heard the word and put it into practice. And the foolish man was the guy who heard and did nothing. So they both heard, but only one of them actually put it into practice. So a lot of times unintentionally in education or even in the church, we design it in such a way that we create foolish builders rather than wise builders. We let them hear the word and never expect them to do anything with it".
Here Anthony speaks with Josh Howard from CICM, Central India Christian Mission, which before Covid-19 was seeing +/- 600,000 people in 3,300 CICM churches across India. But the story is even greater than that.
Within this, Josh heads up Ignite, a ministry that trains and equips their church planters, to go to places no one has been with the gospel and reach individuals in one of the most unreached parts of the world.
Realising that addition would not accomplish the mission, they set out on a journey to multiplication of leaders and churches.
Since making the shift to a multiplication mindset 6 years ago, they've planted about 4,000 new house churches started. Even more incredibly, in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic, they've planted 675 churches.
This is not a conversation to miss and one to share with other leaders and your teams to be encouraged by and to help shift your thinking to multiplication and to help you develop passionate and active disciples in your community.

Ness Wilson [https://pioneer.org.uk/] and [https://www.openheaven.org/] joins Anthony in this episode for a conversation where they look at some of her story and background and what God is doing in the church today.
Much of this conversation relies on a life verse for Ness, 2 Timothy 4:5 - "but you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry". This is arguably not the kind of verse one may ask for but Ness shares powerfully about how it has informed her life and ministry and has helped her navigate some really tough times.
You'll hear also a lot of guidance and some brilliant ideas from Ness about what the church ought to be focussed on in this time and looking forward to. We know you will be encouraged and spurred on by this conversation.
If you enjoy the podcast, would you please consider leaving a short review? It takes less than 60 seconds, and it really makes a difference.
